Deloitte just published an interesting survey with commentary covering what the Boardroom needs to monitor about IT. A few quotes that caught my eye,
“There needs to be more interaction between the board and the CIO and other senior IT executives. The problem is most CIOs talk jargon, present PowerPoints and don’t come to every meeting.”
“CIOs tend to tell you what your needs are more than they ask you what your needs are.”
Many of the respondents expressed concern regarding the effectiveness of boards in providing IT oversight because many boards do not have the required IT knowledge and experience.
More than half of the respondents had essentially no IT-savvy directors on their boards.
“It’s like derivatives — you need to have someone on the board who understands it and you need to engage an expert.”
“I can count on one hand the people who have IT experience who are on boards with me.”
Worth a look.

I was told by the way that PWC has issued a similar report with nearly the reverse findings. I am trying to track down the report and will post a link here.
