De-Dupe Questionnaire a Huge Success

Though we have heard nothing from EMC (no big surprise there) or Data Domain or Falconstor or IBM/Diligent (curious, that), we have gotten a lot of responses to the de-duplication questionnaire for vendors.  As promised, I have not editorialized around the responses.  I will do that in an upcoming article in one of the trades to which I contribute content, but I encourage readers who are interested to review the vendor responses and tell me what you think is probative and what is bullshit from your perspective.  I might pick up some of your commentary and insights as I go to summarize the results.

I edited out only one point in one response, a link to an ESG white paper.  If you are interested in what ESG has to say (I’m not), feel free to visit the Symantec web site to get the link.  I only link to vendor-commissioned white papers and pay-per-view analysis when I find the paper amusing — especially in light of other stuff published by the same analyst that contradicts his own analysis (usually because he or she is paid to say something nice about a competitor’s way of doing things).

Anyway, thanks much to all of the vendors who took time out of their busy schedules to respond.  The readers of DrunkenData, and this blogger, thank you for your effort.

What about all the VTL vendors out there?  How about getting your 10 minutes of fame by responding to our questionnaire about VTL?  User views are also being solicited.
