Not Sure If I Would Have Gone This Way

by Administrator on June 15, 2009

Especially in the wake of the recent incident at the Holocaust Museum in DC.  But, a video has been YouTubed by StorageDude portraying EMC CEO Tucci as the guy with the square moustache.  I have been peppered with emails today because my name is mentioned in the video which you can view here.

Scarier still are these endorsements for EMC V-Max from Steve Duplessie and IDC’s Woo suggesting that Hopkinton will lead us all to VMware nirvana.  It kills me that EMC pays for its endorsements in so blatant a manner.

The rhetoric is compelling, but aren’t these guys actually dissing VMware as a poor storage broker?

There are apparently two types of people in this world. Those that have the sensitivity, con sideration and respect to choose not to repost abjectly defaming and anti-semitic videos, and those that don’t.

The robes of sanctimony as only an imperial storage trooper can fill them.

Indubitable “ist”; “anarch” … not exactly.

Nice hearing from you, SA. Sorry you find the video offensive on racial or religious grounds.

There was nothing anti-Semitic in this video, as I recall. Unless you view all WWII historical films as somehow anti-Semitic.

In this clip, Hitler is portrayed as the bad guy…which he was, of course. I am just not sure that EMC’s leadership is on par with the Nazi leadership of the last century. They simply aren’t that bad — even in my warped sense of humor.

I see them more along the lines of the bad guys in the old Wild West movies. Maybe more along the lines of patent medicine peddlers or derivatives traders.

By the way, what possessed you to post the walkaround bootleg video showing V-Max on YouTube?

What is it, SA: are you impressed by the nifty lighted front panels or is it the huge snaggle of wires slung off the backs of all the cabinets of overpriced drives? Looked to me like a “green IT” nightmare, the lighted panels especially — the kind of neon stuff you expect idiots to put under the chassis of their cars or in the cabinets of their overclocked PCs. Is that supposed to distract us from

Huge mark-ups on spinning rust
2 million line Flair code that is going to unravel if you pull on any threads
Gag orders built into warranty contracts
Huge capacity hold-backs
Untested/undocumented performance
Grotesquely bloated controllers with lots of value-add features that most of my clients claim provides no value to them at all but they must pay for nonetheless

The list goes on…

This video isn’t liable to be called anti-Semitic, just anti-21st Century.
