One Little Ditty Deserves Another

by Administrator on December 4, 2006

Hey, it’s the Silly Season, and it has been a long and grueling day.

To the Tune of “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer”

You know NetApp and OnStor and Lightning and Nexsan
Clarion, Honeycomb, DMX, LeftHand…
But do you recall, the most novel array of them all?

Hammer Z by Bell Micro
(Z for Zetera inside):
Never saw nothin’ like it!
(Doesn’t cost a lot besides.)

All of the other vendors
Used to laugh and call it names
“Without some Fibre Channel
Bell won’t sell a single frame.”

Then came Christmas 2006
Compliance woes abound:
“We need a cheap archival store
And with Hammer Z, our bucks buy more.”

And how the techies loved it,
The world’s first true and only SAN:
IP-based multicasting
Creates a simple storage LAN.

Hammer Z by Bell Micro
For Enterprise and SMB:
Just add some archive software,
Compliance woes are history.

(No, Virginia, Bell Micro/Zetera did not pay me one centavo for this jingle.)

Hey, I’m trying to get into the Christmas spirit here. The storage industry doesn’t give me a lot to work with.

Zetera seems like a great option, but when I called them, they said they don’t yet work with VMWare ESX…bummer. I can’t quite figure out how they are positioning themselves..
